Merging

Normally, translations will be done by other persons than the primary developer or translation manager, simply because that one will not be capable of all needed languages. Handing the project over to a translator is as easy as setting up the target locale in the project and then handing over the complete file tree to the translator. If he starts I18NEdit and loads the root directory of the project, he can immediately begin to translate the strings of the project.

Problems begin, however, if the translated stuff is passed back to the central. Changes done by the translator could interfere easily with intermediate changes done in the main project tree. This is especially true for the meta-properties and if more than one external translator passes his stuff back. Even though many of the problems could be solved by a version management system like CVS, some problems remain.
